I Downloaded the Template as an Excel File and It’s Not Working Correctly
SharpKit templates are now available in both Google Sheets and Excel formats.
However, issues can still occur if the template is opened in the wrong platform or if you are using an outdated version of Excel.
---
Why This Happens
Some functionality depends on the platform being used.
For example, issues may occur if:
- You open the Excel (.XLSX) version inside Google Sheets
- You are using an older version of Excel that does not support certain features
- The file is converted between Excel and Google Sheets
These situations can affect things like:
- Checkboxes
- Conditional formatting
- Certain formulas or automation features
---
Recommended Solution (Best Experience)
For the best performance and full functionality, we recommend:
- Using the Google Sheets version when working inside Google Sheets
- Using the Excel (.XLSX) version when working inside Microsoft Excel
- Avoiding opening Excel files directly in Google Sheets
This ensures all formulas, automations, and features work exactly as intended.

Important Note About Excel Versions
Some features in the Excel version require modern versions of Microsoft Excel.
For example:
- Checkbox functionality may not appear in Excel versions before 2023
- Certain formulas and formatting tools may not be supported in older versions
If you are using an older version of Excel, some elements may appear missing or broken.
In this case, we recommend either:
- Updating to the latest version of Excel (Microsoft 365 / Excel 2023+), or
- Using the Google Sheets version, which works in any browser with a Google account.
